Kumbhalgarh is tucked at a distance of 84 km from Udaipur in the Royal state of Indian subcontinent. It was basically built for defensive purpose on an 1100 m high hill overlooking the approaches from Ajmer and Marwar. The stunning structure of Kumbhalgarh Fort was erected by Rana Kumbha of Mewar. There are 84 fortresses defending Mewar and this is one of the most impressive defensive fortification that stands as an epitome of architectural splendor. The fort stands on an ancient citadel dating back to the 2nd century AD belonging to a Jain successor of Mauryan emperors.

The exquisite architecture of the Kumbhalgarh Fort, is worth praising. The fortifications of the fort measures 33 km in length and is stated as the second largest continuous wall in the world. The fort is now turned into a resort for the tourist purpose. Beautifully overlooking the Kumbhalgarh Valley, it reflects the perfect blend of old age hospitality and modernity.

The Game Sanctuary at the fort is a dwelling place to several species of the wildlife such as Sambhars, Panthers, Wild Boar and many more. 15th century Ranakpur Jain Temple, tucked at a short distance, is famous for its fine intricate work. The 17th Rajsamand Lake built by Rana Raj Singh mesmerizes the visitors by offering a spectacular view at dawn, with beautiful arches adorning the embankment.
