History of Chittorgarh Fort
The magnificent structure of Chittorgarh Fort was built between 5th and 8th century by the Mori Rajpur ruler, Chitrangad. Earlier it was known by the name Chitrakot, later on renamed as Chitrangad by Sisodia Rajput ruler, Ajay Pal Chauhan. The fort has woven a fascinating tapestry with threads of valor and courage and is laced with the sacrifices of Rajput nobles and beautiful queens. It has witnessed three blood shed battles since the time it was built.

About the fort
The Chittaurgarh fort built in an area of 280 hectares, is one of the significant historical monument of Rajasthan and epitomizes the whole romantic, doomed ideal of Rajput bravery. The peripheral length of the gate is 13 km and it is accessed by many gates. The prominent among them are Padam Pol, Bhairon Pol, Hanuman Pol and Ram Pol.

The Vijay Stambh is an evidence to the victory of Maharana Kumbha's over the Muslim rulers of Malawai and Gujarat in the year 1440. The tower features nine storeyed structure, measuring 37 m in height. The Stambh is enhanced with beautiful sculptures, derived from great Hindu epic Mahabharat and Ramayan.

The Kirti Stambh is dedicated to the first Jain Tirthankara, Adinath. Fascinating figures of Jain Pantheon adds charm to this beautiful structure.
