Jaipur:- Hawa Mahal'Famed as “Pink city of Rajasthan”, Jaipur was a erstwhile capital of Rajputana rulers . These chivalrous and extravagant rulers had created some outstanding architectural masterpieces which are perfect blend of Rajputana and Mughal architectural designs. Some of the outstanding creations of this first planned city of India are

City Palace and museum: Positioned in the heart of old city, the entire City Place complex of Jaipur occupies a large area divided into a series of courtyards, gardens and buildings. City palace is an awesome piece of Rajasthani and Mughal architectural designs which was created by Maharaja Jai Singh. It includes various palaces and temples like Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Maharani's Palace, Diwan-i-khas, Diwan-i-am, Sri Gobind Dev Temple and Jai Niwas Garden. Diwan-i-am now converted into a museum known as Maharajah of Jaipur Museum and houses the Maharaja's collection of rare paintings, manuscripts, carpets, royal costumes and textiles etc.

Hawa Mahal: Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) is the most striking landmark of Jaipur which is located in the centre of the city. Built by Maharajah Pratap Singh in 1799, this palace is a five storyed honey-combed structure monument. In its hey day, Hawa Mahal served as a screened grand stand for the royal ladies who could view the everyday life and colorful processions of the city. It is a part of City palace complex. Hawa Mahal is loveliest in the morning when the sunrays falls on its numerous windows.

Jantar Mantar: Jantar Mantar is located next to the entrance of City Palace. This outstanding monument is a huge astronomical observatory, constructed by Maharaja Jai Singh, an avant garde ruler of Rajputana clan in 1728 A.D. It is the largest and best preserved observatory of the five available in the country. It has 13 different instruments for calculating the movement of celestial bodies such as Brihat Samrat Yantra, Laghu Samrat Yantra, Narivalaya Yantra, Yantra Raj etc.

Amber Fort: Situated about 11km from Jaipur on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway, Amber fort is one of the formidable fort of the state. Amber Fort is the pride of Amer which once served as the capital of princely state of Kachchawa Rajputs for nearly 600 years. This old citadel stands high on a rocky spur of the Aravalli range. The fort houses Sheesh Mahal, Diwam-i-am, Sukh Niwas, Jai Mandir, Kali Temple, Zenana(women's apartments)etc. Other attractions of Jaipur city are Gaitor, Galta, Central Museum, Rambagh Palace, Nawab Saheb Ki Havelli, Jaigarh Fort, Nahargarh Fort etc.

Jodhpur: Popularly referred as “Sun City of Rajasthan”, Jodhpur is one of the city of desert triangle. This city of sand dunes and thorny vegetation was established by Rao Jodhaji in 1459 A.D and served as an important destination of 16th century silk route. Jodhpur houses exquisite palaces, forts, temples, havellis which still very maintains their royal touch.

Umaid Bhawan Palace:Umaid Bhawan Palace'This opulent palace of Late His Highness Maharajah Umaid Singh is world's last great place and largest private residence. It is located on the Chittor hill and built of marble and pink sand stone. It was constructed of a work-for-food programme to provide employment to more than 3000 artisans during the famine and required Rs 94, 51, 565. Till date, this beautiful palace serves as a home to the royal family of Jodhpur. Present His Highness Maharajah Gaj Singh II has divided this vast palace into three sections such as residence of royal family, a luxury hotel named Taj Hotel, and a museum. Umaid Bhawan Palace also has a lush lawn which stretches to an area 15 acres where peacocks display their plumage which is visual retreat.

Mehrangarh Fort: Built atop a steep hill at a height of 125m, Mehrangarh Fort is one of the largest forts of India. This massive citadel stretches to area of 5km and displays wonderful artistic designs. With its exquisitely latticed windows, carved panels, elaborately decorated windows and walls of Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Mehrangarh fort is a outsatnding peice of Rajputana grandeur. The fort has an excellent collection of musical instruments, palanquins, royal costumes, furniture and the cannons. Other attractions of Jodhpur are Jaswant Thada, Government Museum, Rai-Ka-Bhag Palace, Raj Ranchhodji Temple, Achal Nath Shivalaya etc.

Jaisalmer: Another major destination of Rajasthan desert triangle is Jaisalmer. It is heralded as “golden city” and served as a important destination for traditional land route. Crowned by a fantastic fort which contains the palace and several ornate Jain temples, Jaisalmer is one of the famous tourist city of the state. Jaisalmer is also famed as a gateway to the boundless Thar Desert of India.

Sonar Killa(Golden Fort, Jaisalmer): Nestled amidst the vast expanses of golden sands, Sonar Killa or Golden Fort is the pride of Jaisalmer city. This magnificent fort of 800 years still stand tall on the top of Trikuta hill and was built by Bhatti Rajput ruler Jaisala. It is built of golden-yellow sandstone and famed as world's only living fort. It houses an entire living area within huge ramparts and have four massive gateways namely Ganesh pol, Suraj pol, Bhoot pol and Hawa pol. There are many merchant havelies and cluster of ancient Jain temples built in between 12th to 15th century. Also there is a Raj Mahal or Royal palace and Laxminath temple. Other attractions of the city are Patwon Ki Havelli, Salim Singh Ki Havelli, Nathmal Ki Havelli, Gadi Sagar and Museums etc.

Udaipur: Possibly no city in Rajasthan is quiet as romantic as Udaipur. French Impressionist painters named it as “Venice of east”. Thanks to its beautiful palaces surrounded by serene lakes, rolling hills, Udaipur looks like town of fairytale stories. It seems to be an oasis in desert and woos thousands of visitors very year.

City Palace Complex: The huge City Palace complex of Udaipur towering over the Lake Pichola, is the largest palace of Rajasthan. It is a conglomeration of buildings added by several Maharanas. The main part of City Place is now preserved as the City Palace Museum with a large and varied collection of artifacts. There are some other important monuments within the fort such as Manak Mahal, Bari Mahal, Chini Mahal, Surya Chopar, Zenana Mahal etc. Udaipur has lots more things to view such as Jagdish temple, Pratap Smarak (Moti Magri), Saheliyon Ki Bari, Shilpgram, Monsoon Palace, Bhartiya Lok Kala Museum, Fateh Sagar, Ahar Museum and Cenotaphs etc.

Other important sight seeing destinations in Rajasthan are Brahma Temple, Pushkar, Dargah Shariff, Ajmer, Junagarh Fort, Bikaner, Jain temples, Ranaukpur, Chittorgarh Fort, Chittorgrah etc.
