Amazing facts about Rajasthani cuisine
Very little produce grows in the desert. Daily food mainly comprises of
daal-bati (cooked lentils and roasted balls of dough), accompanied by a
variety of dried or pickled berries cooked in different ways.
Hence,food
that could last for several days and could be eaten without heating was
preferred, more out of necessity than choice. Scarcity of water, fresh green
vegetables have all had their effect on the cooking.
Dining
» Restaurant : The beautiful dining room is adorned
by impressive decorative and commemorative memorabilia, large oil paintings
of places in the Kota region, and hunting trophies. Here, food prepared
under the personal supervision of the royal family is served to the esteemed
guests by the attentive staff.
The cuisines are General Indian, Rajasthani, Continental, as well as
Chinese to suit the most discerning of palates. Fresh milk is sourced from
Brijraj Bhawan's own dairy which is situated within the property. Much of
the fresh vegetables and herbs are sourced from the Brijraj Bhawan kitchen
gardens.
Guests can also enjoy their meals on the terrace gardens, overlooking the
Chambal river. It makes for a delightful setting.
Accommodation
Currently, there are 4 double rooms, 2 suites and 1 single room. Both the
suites have a river view, and all bedrooms have beautiful period furniture
dating back to the Raj. The rooms have an excellent blend of comfort and
elegance, and most rooms have a river view.
Bedrooms have attached modern bathrooms, which have running hot and cold
water. All bathrooms have a bathtub. All bedrooms are equipped with AC,
Cable TV, and Telephone with international access.
