About Mount Abu
Mount Abu means "Mount of wisdom". It is a village of
20,000 inhabitants situated in the Rajasthan. It is 1220 m high ; it stays
in granitic mountains strewed with small lakes. It is a spot of many legends
and divine apparitions.
Shiva would have created these mountains, birthplace of the four Rajput clans "Sons of the fire" who gave birth for big kingdoms, in the north of India, during the Xth century. This place was from the beginning a sacred shivaït spot, then it became a big center of jaïn pilgrimage, because according to the tradition, Mahavira, the founder of jaïnism, would have spent a year there.
