Jaipur

The 'Pink City', had been the capital of erstwhile Jaipur state since its
inception in 1727 AD, named after its founder Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727 AD,
who was not only a great ruler, but also a renowned mathematician and
astrologer. His various talents are clearly exhibited in the city. Vidyadhar
Bhattacharya, designed Jaipur as per the Hindu treatise, Shilp Shastra.
» About the rich heritage of the city : When you
enter the city, the first major monument that greets you is the spectacular
Hawa Mahal, or the Palace of Winds that provides some excellent views of the
streets from its fifth floor. Just located behind it are Jantar Mantar, the
unique observatory built by the founder of Jaipur - Sawai Jai Singh and the
city palace with its fabulous museum that display some of the most amazing
treasures held by the Jaipur Royal family. A little further are the
important temple of Galta, the garden of Sisodia Rani and Vidhyadhar.
» Other Monuments & Palaces of the City : City
Palace, City Palace Museum, Rambagh Palace, Moti-doongri or Pearl Hillock -
The Takhta Shahi Palace, Dolls Museum, The Jaigarh Fort, The Amber Fort, The
Nahargarh Fort, Diwan-e-Khas, Ishwar Lat, Gaitor, Jal Mahal, Galta, Laxmi
Narain Temple, Kanak Vrindavan, Sukh Mandir, Central Museum.
Samode

The
small village of Samode is nestled among rugged hills about 50 km north of
Jaipur, via Chomu. The only reason to visit is if you can afford to stay at
the beautiful Samode Palace (although strictly speaking it's not actually a
palace, as it wasn't owned by a ruler, but by one of his noblemen). Like the
Samode Haveli in Jaipur, this building was owned by the Rawal of Samode.
It's a beautiful building built on three levels, each with its own
courtyard. The highlight of the building is the absolutely exquisite
diwan-i-khas, which is completely covered with original paintings and mirror
work, and improbably the finest example of its kind in the country.
Unfortunately the palace is open only to guests, and public transport
requires a change in Chomu.
Dausa

Dausa is situated, 54 km east of Jaipur. Dausa is an ancient town of
archaeological importance. it is one of the erstwhile kingdoms of Kachhawah
rulers of Dhundhar. An old fort and many havelis are located in and around
Dausa. Some major tourist attractions are : Mataji Ka Mandir, Nilkanth
Mahadev Temple, and a few shiva temple.
Abhaneri

It is near Dausa and 90 Kms from Jaipur. There are two fine monuments of
architectural significance. Harshat Mata Temple and Chard Baori.
Ramgarh

The main attraction here is the Ramgarh Lake: The man made lake created by
constructing a high dam. To store rain water for drinking. This lake was
created in the 9th century and was the main source of drinking water for
Jaipur. Situated 35 kms to the north east of Jaipur is now a days a
beautiful picnic spot.
