Mehrangarh Fort : It was founded by Rao Jodha in 1459 when he shifted
his capital here from nearby Mandore. There are palaces housed within this
daunting structure, among them are Moti Mahal and Phool Mahal.
» Jaswant Thada : A cluster of royal cenotaphs in
white marble built in 1899 A.D. in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II.
Within the main cenotaph are the portraits of various Jodhpur rulers.
» Umaid Bhawan Palace : While Mehrangarh dominates
Jodhpur, it is Umaid Bhawan Palace that holds one in awe. It is also known
as Chhittar Palace because of the particular type of sandstone used to built
it - which does not decay in the rains. Portions of the palace have been
converted into a hotel and a museum.
