About the city
Jodhpur is at the edge of the Thar desert and is the largest city in
Rajasthan after Jaipur. The city is dominated by a massive fort, topping a
sheer rocky ridge right in the middle of the town. Jodhpur was founded in
1459 by Rao Jodha, a chief of the Rajput clan known as the Rathores. His
descendants ruled not only Jodhpur, but also other Rajput princely states.

The
old city of Jodhpur is surrounded by 10 kms long wall, built about a century
after the city was founded. From the fort, you can clearly see where the old
city ends and the new begins.
About the Hotel.

Ranbanka Hotel, , Best Western Ranbanka Hotel exudes an aura distinctly its
own - enhanced by its rich and varied collection of paintings, treasure
troves and hunting trophies of yesteryear. Everything is well preserved by
the royal family, which still uses a part of the building as its home. The
magnificent sandstone building, built for Sir Ajit Singhji, the
Maharajadhiraj of Jodhpur and younger brother of Maharaja Umaid Singh,
tastefully blends the lavish interiors and modern comforts. Present day
facilities are harmonized so as not to disturb the antiquity of the royal
abode. Overlooking the seemingly invincible Mehrangoarh Fort on one side and
the gigantic Bhawan Palace on the other, the Best Western Ranbanka Hotel
holds the lingering echoes of a bygone era like no other place.
Location
The Best Western Ranbanka Hotel is on the circuit house road, leading to
the airport, opposite Umaid Bhawan Palace.
