Destinations covered during my tour:
Delhi
- Agra - Sawai Madhopur - Jaipur - Delhi
There was always a burning desire, a fantasy of visiting India - a world of
its own, thousands of miles far away, amidst the majestic Himalayas,
supported by rich culture and heritage.
When the opportunity came my way then there was no looking back, I packed
my bags and baggage's and landed in Delhi at Indra Gandhi International
Airport.

Uncle
Joe- my maternal uncle told me to book a tour through a tour operator, to be
more comfortable on my journey. While his journey to India last year, he had
also done the same. He suggested me to go for 'Rajasthan Holidays Tour
Operator', who successfully makes your dream comes true.
My Arrival at Delhi -India
I had a warm welcome at the airport with the garlands and flowers. It was a
beautiful experience. My hotel was a luxurious one with quite a lavish
accommodation.
There was a buffet for the dinner with diverse variety of mouth-watering
dishes. The cuisine was both Indian and continental, I went for Indian, as I
had pre-decided - once in India, I am going to enjoy every thing of India.
Here one thing I liked about India, the people are extremely courteous and
respect you, not because you are a foreigner but because you are their
guest. As my travel agent told me " we Indian treat our guest like a
God"-quite amazing.
Beautiful Delhi
Next morning, I got up quite fresh and full of enthusiasm -the tiredness of
previous day traveling, all vanished. After going for a light breakfast, I
was all set for taking up Delhi Tour.
The elevated tower of Qutab Minar was our first
destination,..........my,my!!, it was a huge tower with magnificent 5
floors. I also climbed up to 1st floor---one can do that by paying minimal
fees, all these hassles were of my travel agent. Humayun's tomb, India Gate
and the Rastrapati Bhawan were also worth a visit.
Red Fort was just awesome, I thoroughly enjoyed my rickshaw ride to
Chandani Chawk- one of the busiest shopping hub in Delhi. Jittu- my guide to
Delhi tour took me to some most crumbled lanes of the market - smelling with
rich foodstuff. I tried potato pan-cakes (Tikki) and carrot
sweet-dish.......Yummy! Believe me- the whole stuff was just delicious.
I also enjoyed shopping some of the rare artifacts of the city and some
rare stones for my necklace and ring. The light and sound show at Red Fort
in the evenings was another charm of the city----I would definitely like to
share with my readers, that this light and sound show is worth viewing one
hour program. With only light and sound and no physical presence of any
person - depicting the great legend of Mughal rule and making it a great
show.
The 7th wonder of the world at Agra
After a hectic day, next morning, we proceeded for Agra, the next
destination in our itinerary. During my 4 hour drive to Agra, Rami- my guide
acquainted me with many facts about the city - The city of world's most
famous Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah-jahan in 1630 for his
Queen Mumtaz Mahal, to enshrine her mortal remains. The Taj Mahal is
considered to be the ultimate symbol of eternal love.
I visited Taj during the sunset time. I tell you, it was wondrous! The
resplendent rays of the sun converted this white marvel into the gold,
splashing its shines in all directions.
Agra Red Fort was another attraction of this monumental city- I also
enjoyed the magnificent view of the Taj from the premises of the fort.
The
domicile of Tiger - Ranthambore National Park
Next morning my car coach was ready to take me to Sawai Madhopur
(Ranthambore). Sharp cliffs and narrow valleys of the Aravali ranges, rule
tiger reserve. The park is a good amalgam of both herbivores and carnivores.
Through tall trees and meadows, I could sight some of the rare species of
Indian wildlife like nilgai, sambar, four horned antelope and wild boar.
Indian langur was the most common sight - you can trace them hanging on low
branches making immense noise.
After a little effort, with the help of a guide, I could catch the glimpse
of the great Indian tiger, sitting amidst its royal throne- where no one
could dare to enter his territory. After sighting a tiger at that moment it
seemed that my complete tour had turned out to be of great worth -- feeling
of achieving a horizon. My night was at the Hotel in Sawai Madhopur
(Ranthambore).
Jaipur- the Pink city of Rajasthan
Jaipur - the city of Rajas and Maharajas, is quite famous for its royal
palaces and forts as told by Ranbir- my guide to Jaipur. With its open arms,
Jaipur greeted me - I saw beautiful Hawa Mahal with its countless windows,
meant for the royal ladies of the court to enjoy the life down the streets -
isn't it sound amazing! Jantar Mantar an astronomical observatory was also
worth a site.
My stay was at the royal City Palace - I was quite excited to know that in
half of the palace the royal family is still residing, still maintaining its
royal charms- making me more impatient to have a glimpse of this imperial
family. Inside the palace museum the rare collections of manuscripts,
costumes, miniature paintings and carpets were so much captivating.......for
sometime my mind flew to those golden ages.
I will definitely like to add here, that tour to Jaipur is absolutely
incomplete, if one has not visited Amber Fort----the attraction of fort lies
in its location. This magnificent fort is situated on a hilltop, my royal
ride on an elephant's back, up to the fort was just fabulous, I gave a
'token of tip' to the elephant-guide, which he accepted with share delight.
Along with my excursion to the city, I also enjoyed shopping at the
bustling streets and bazaars thronged with tourist and the locals, I took
one long skirt-they call it 'gaghara' with lot of mirror and embroidery work
and many other artifacts.
I was really happy and contented with my trip to India and really thanks
Uncle Joe, for booking my tour with 'Rajasthan Holiday Tour Operator' and
now I am looking forward to plan my next trip to India.
